A Family Business Built on Hard Work and Showing Up
James C. Wilson Excavating has been getting the job done since 1973. It all started with Jim and Rose Wilson, a single loader, and a simple promise: show up, do good work, and treat people fairly.
That approach built more than just projects—it built trust. From early residential jobs to major sitework for commercial developments in Harford, Cecil, and Baltimore Counties, our reputation grew the same way our equipment fleet did—steadily and with purpose.
After Rose passed in 1989, Jim continued the business with their two children, James and Tricia, by his side. By the mid-90s, we were taking on major clearing and excavation jobs across the region. As sustainability grew in importance, Jim made a pivotal decision: he purchased our first concrete crusher and landed the contract to demo Fallston General Hospital. That job opened our eyes to the value of on-site recycling—a service that now saves our clients thousands.
In 2005, Jim passed away, but the Wilson family kept pushing forward. James and Tricia ran the business together until Tricia transitioned to a successful real estate career. Today, James runs the business alongside his wife Debbie, keeping the family legacy alive with the same values it was founded on: reliability, fairness, and craftsmanship.
